Pedagogical Guide
Objective & content
One rule, one table, two tasks: this A2 grammar sheet teaches the future simple with will and won't. A table shows the verb eat in the positive, negative and question forms for seven pronouns (I will eat, I won't eat, Will I eat?). Pupils then make six sentences negative (She will go to school tomorrow becomes She won't go to school tomorrow) and find and correct six mistakes such as Will your dad working tomorrow?. An answer-key page is included.
Pedagogical guide
The sheet teaches one structure only: will + base verb. It does not cover going to, so do not mix the two on this page. The table makes the pattern visible: will does not change with the subject, won't is the short negative and the question moves Will to the front. The error-correction task targets the most common slip, an -ing or -s form after will (will working, will flies). Use the sheet as written practice after the form has been introduced orally.
Suggested procedure
- (5 min) Ask what pupils will do tomorrow. Write two answers on the board with will, and one with won't.
- (5 min) Read the table together and underline will, won't and Will in three colours.
- (10 min) Pupils make the six sentences negative, then correct the six mistakes.
- (5 min) Check with the key page. For each mistake, ask pupils to name the rule that was broken.
Adaptations
[S] Cover the table's question column at first and do only the negative task, using the positive column as a model.
[A] Pupils write four predictions about their town in ten years, two positive and two negative, using will and won't.
Materials & prerequisites
