Pedagogical Guide
Objective & content
This A1 sheet on feelings shows six picture cards, each with its word, in two columns of three. Students draw a line from each emotion to its opposite, as in happy / sad and angry / calm; the printed instruction is Match each emotion with the opposite emotion, and page 2 holds the answer key.
Pedagogical guide
The pictures carry the meaning, so students who do not know disappointed or proud can still reason from the cartoon faces. Only three lines are needed, a gentle first step at A1 that prepares simple sentences such as I feel happy.
Suggested procedure
- (5 min) Show the six pictures and ask students to name or mime each feeling. Do not explain the words yet.
- (5 min) Students work alone in pencil and draw a line from each picture to its opposite. Lines may be redrawn.
- (5 min) Pairs compare sheets and explain each line to each other.
- (5 min) Check with the answer key on page 2, then ask each student to say one sentence such as I feel happy when....
Adaptations
[S] Act out each feeling together before students draw, so that every picture has a gesture attached.
[A] Students write I feel ... when ... sentences for two feelings of their choice.
Materials & prerequisites
One printed copy of page 1 per student and a pencil; keep page 2, the answer key, for yourself.
