Objective & content
By the end, A1 students can recognise and write five feeling words: happy, tired, sad, scared and angry. The one-page worksheet has three short tasks. Students trace each word under its picture, match five pictures with the words, then draw four faces with different feelings and say "I'm ________." for each. The sheet needs no separate answer key.
Pedagogical guide
This is a first-vocabulary sheet: the three tasks move from copying (tracing), to recognising (matching), to producing (drawing and speaking). Tracing supports spelling and handwriting, while the picture links keep the focus on meaning. In task 3, students point to a face and say the sentence aloud, so the sheet practises speaking as well as writing. No prior knowledge is needed, except having heard the five words once.
Suggested procedure
- (5 min) Mime each feeling and say the word. The class repeats it.
- (6 min) Task 1: students look at the pictures and trace the words.
- (5 min) Task 2: students match the pictures with the words, then compare in pairs.
- (8 min) Task 3: students draw four faces with different feelings. In pairs, they point to a face and say: "I'm angry."
- (2 min) Mime a feeling. Students say the word.
Materials & prerequisites
Print A4: 1 page. Students need a pencil and, if possible, coloured pencils. No answer key. No prior vocabulary needed: teach the five words orally first.
