Pedagogical Guide
Objective & content
"How healthy are you?" is an A1 questionnaire of ten personal questions such as What do you usually have for breakfast? and Do you brush your teeth after eating?. Pupils read the instruction, "Answer the following questions about you", and write their own answers on two lines under each question. There are no options to choose from, and the answer-key page simply says that answers vary.
Pedagogical guide
Every question is a Do you...? or What do you...? question in the present simple, so the sheet gives real practice in answering about habits with short, true sentences ("Yes, I do." / "I usually have cereal."). Because every answer is personal, there is nothing to copy and no wrong answer to fear, which suits a quiet start or a health-themed lesson. Two questions use How many hours...? and How often?, which are worth previewing.
Suggested procedure
- (5 min) Read the ten questions with the class and check that sneeze and cough are understood.
- (15 min) Pupils write one or two sentences under each question.
- (10 min) In pairs, pupils interview each other with three questions of their choice, without looking at the sheet.
- (5 min) Ask for a show of hands on two questions and discuss one healthy habit the class shares.
Adaptations
[S] Write the answer frames I usually..., Yes, I do. and No, I don't. on the board, and let pupils answer in one short sentence per question.
[A] Pupils write a short paragraph of advice to a friend, using You should....
Materials & prerequisites
One printed sheet per pupil and a pencil. The answer-key page says "answers vary", so use it only to see the questions again.
