Pedagogical Guide
Objective & content
By the end, A2- pupils can describe an everyday object with single words and ask and answer Is it a ...? questions. The bank is 11 projectable slides: a how-to slide with an example, then 10 slides of nine pictured and labelled objects each (furniture, clothes, school things, technology, transport, music). A pupil picks one object in secret and says five words about it; the class guesses.
Pedagogical guide
Use it as a five-minute warm-up at the start of a lesson, or to revise object vocabulary. Clues are single words, so every pupil can give one, and the class practises a short, fixed exchange: I think it's a ..., Yes, it is!, No, it isn't. Try again!. Each slide mixes home, school, clothes and travel, so the room or the category alone never gives the answer away. The slides are interchangeable: show a new one each lesson.
Suggested procedure
- (1 min) Show the how-to slide and model the umbrella example: five words, then the guess.
- (3 min) Show one object slide. A pupil picks an object in secret and says five words about it, one at a time; the class guesses. The first right guess picks the next object.
- (1 min) Finish with one round in teams: one point for each right guess.
Adaptations
- [S] Say the colour and the room first, then the other words.
- [A] Give three words only.
